You build your walls to protect yourself from hurt, Live off the grid with what you did, and dig your trench in dirt. Stand your ground, Stand your ground, Telling the world love let you down, Stand your ground. You got your right to protect, you lock your doors at night, You know you won't run when they come, and you're prepared to fight. Stand your ground, Stand your ground, Telling the world love let you down, Stand your ground. When the waters broke along the ridge, I heard gunshots on the bridge, Now, you won't tell me where you've been, Notify the next of kin. You saw the threat, no regret, you made your case airtight, It tore a hole in your heart when you shot on sight. Stand your ground, Stand your ground, Telling the world God let you down, Stand your ground. Stand your ground.

Let It Alone 03:11
Weight of the world is crashing down This kind of love just stains my crown I can’t go up and down………like I used to You can’t expect me to smile When the circus comes to town Paint a smile upon this frown Let it alone I’m not your fool no more Shoveling shit ‘til we break down Step on my back, parade me around See the façade with the big top down Don’t expect me to smile When the circus comes to town Paint a smile upon this frown Let it alone I’m not your fool no more, no more, no more The colors faded long ago And the music fades away But the sideshow’s still around Break my back from night to day Break my back from night to day Break my back from night to day Break my back from night to day More no more no more

They built me with hope For the Ohio River I stood silver and tall Only one fatal flaw Over thirty-nine years They neglected my frame I took more than my weight Now a curse takes the blame The day was a day That was like any other They punched out their timecards And started their cars Their minds pointed home To the lives they had worked for Their laundry and dinners And halls filled with songs I was engineered With the tiniest flaw I took forty-six down With a tenth inch of steel To their watery grave They took all of me with them Forty-six nightmares And dreams are now shattered Forty-six songs that will never be sung Forty-six children lost Forty-six mothers Forty-six lovers and Two empty graves Forty-six nightmares And dreams are now shattered Forty-six songs that will never be sung

Find me a river that ain’t got a bridge Find me a woman who don’t give no lip Find me a preacher without a tongue Find me a lover who ain’t got no one Find me a road that ain’t got no dirt Find me a man who won’t lead to hurt Find me a badge that won’t bend the law Find me a liar you can trust above all ‘Til that day comes ‘Til that day comes ‘Til that day comes Lord I’ll keep on keepin’ on Find me a suitcase that ain’t been nowhere Find me a child who has never been scared Find me a sparrow without a song Find me a world where we all get along Find me a tree without any roots Find me a cowgirl without any boots Find me a soul that does all it can Find me a bridge that always will stand ‘Til that day comes ‘Til that day comes ‘Til that day comes Lord I’ll keep on keepin’ on ‘Til that day comes ‘Til that day comes ‘Til that sweet day comes Lord I’ll keep on keepin’ on I’ll keep on keepin’ on I’ll keep on keepin’ on

One World 03:33
From outer space, we’re all the same One world, night and day Blue and green, a jet stream One world, so serene Picture this, the vast unknown Far beyond what you’ve been shown Way out there you’re all alone Imagine all the things you see The Milky Way a galaxy Earth below, no boundaries So free, so free, so free From outer space, we’re all the same One world, night and day Blue and green, a jet stream One world, so serene Ozone into atmosphere Land and sea and sky appear Horizons mark a new frontier Zero in and touch the ground A bridge connects us to the sound Feel the love that’s all around Around, around, around From outer space, we’re all the same One world, night and day Blue and green, a jet stream One world, so serene From outer space, we’re all the same One world, night and day Blue and green, a jet stream One world, so serene One world One world My kind is your kind is their kind is our kind

Early morning coffee and eggs It’s the first day back on the grind Filled my pail with chicken legs And took the first job I could find Cold steel, sweltering heat The boss wants this job done The deadline he said we need to meet Is July thirty-one Now, I’ve always been a blue collar man Fearless as they COME But there’s something about this plan Made me turn my tail and RUN High voltage cables Contents under pressure Half the guys were wasted And falling in the water Had to find another way To feed my family Had to find a safer place To plant my family tree Now, I’ve always been a blue collar man Fearless as they COME But there’s something about this plan Made me turn my tail and RUN Made me turn my tail and RUN Made me TURN my TAIL and RUN

Pick A Side 03:15
We’re gonna be in trouble when the boat comes We’ll have to decide If we go your way, or we go my way We each pick a side We’re gonna be in trouble when the boat comes If I can’t change your mind You’re a vision of indecision Reflected in the tide When the waves come crashing I’ll stand steady waiting And when the drawbridge starts to rise I have to go We’re gonna be in trouble when the boat comes I have to draw the line To be forgiven is not a given You made it black and white When the waves come crashing I’ll stand steady waiting And when the drawbridge starts to rise I have to go Go on forget about it I will not apologize Don’t be mistaken ‘bout it There are no tears in my eyes Go on forget about it I will not apologize Don’t be mistaken ‘bout it There are no tears in my eyes I love you baby I love you so I love you maybe It’s time to go
8.
There’s a war, there’s a fire That you put in my heart There’s a price for desire That I’ve paid from the start You’re always one step away From breaking, breaking me down From breaking, breaking me down I keep burning all our bridges down, down I keep burning all our bridges down to nothing But ashes falling down like snow, like snow Now I’m walking, leaving footprints, in the ashes on the ground Just to meet you, in the middle, hoping you will come And the wreckage, all around me, is too much to bear And I’m hoping to find you there I keep burning all our bridges down, down I keep burning all our bridges down to nothing But ashes falling down like Ashes falling down like snow Like snow I keep burning all our bridges down to the ground
9.
I was deep inside a seed When the sunlight struck on me Then I reached my arms overhead to stretch Someone said you’re green All the daylight in which I stream I come from the land where the fay sing us to sleep And I gotta face the sunshine where the humans weep And be the way between the worlds Baba baba baba baba I come to feed the dream It comes from underneath We’re all just little seeds Of daylight They only mark our birth and death But life is lived on a bridge called breath Suspended in this fragile place We only get minutes of graces I come to feed the dream It comes from underneath We’re all just little seeds Of daylight They only mark our birth and death But life is lived on a bridge called breath Suspended in this fragile place We only get minutes of grace I come to feed the dream It comes from underneath We’re all just little seeds Of daylight

Don’t tear me down I’m trying to make a go at living in this new town Don’t let the lights go out I’m trying to make a habit of hanging around Out in the open, under the light Away from the crowd, away from the fight Trying to find what’s left, trying to get right With a friend of mine Don’t tear me down I’m trying to make a go at living in this new town Don’t let the lights go out I’m trying to make a habit of hanging around Jumping off the shoulders of giants, here I come Back down to earth, before it’s gone Follow the shadow ‘til I find the sun Then I’ll be home Don’t tear me down I’m trying to make a go at living in this new town Don’t let the lights go out I’m trying to make a habit of hanging around Don’t tear me down I’m trying to make a go at living in this new town Don’t let the lights go out I’m trying to make a habit of hanging around I’m trying to make a habit of hanging around Don’t tear me down
11.
Things gonna be alright Things gonna be alright Things gonna be alright When the sun comes up tomorrow You can cross that bridge You can cross that bridge You can cross that bridge When the sun comes up tomorrow I’m gonna hold you tight I’m gonna hold you tight I’m gonna hold you tight ‘Til the sun comes up tomorrow Don’t, don’t you worry Don’t, don’t you cry There’s no need to hurry The sun will always rise

Appear 04:21
Hourglass been broken Piano Floating pieces of my life Through my finger sands of time Wheels roll ‘round the mountain Can all go back to the start Where we all fall apart Crossing over Embracing the mystery we’re making history now Crossing over Though we can’t see it we’ve got to believe it somehow Crossing over The bridge will appear somehow Even if we have to build it from the ground Can we all go back to the start Where we all fall apart ‘Cause love is the answer to all of our questions And we can have all of the answers Crossing over Embracing the mystery we’re making history now Love is the answer Crossing over Though we can’t see it we’ve got to believe it somehow We can have all of the answers Crossing over Embracing the mystery we’re making history now Love is the answer Crossing over Though we can’t see it we’ve got to believe it somehow We can have all of the answers Crossing over A bridge will appear somehow Even if we have to build it from the ground You know I believe that a bridge will appear somehow Even if we have to build it from the ground Better believe that a bridge will appear somehow Even if we have to build it from the ground Well yes I believe that a bridge will appear somehow

And now, the next chapter in the continuing saga of Steel Bridge Story Hour, we now present “Gleaming Steel” Bosoms Gleaming steel It was a hot summer afternoon in southern Door County Barreling across steel bridge I was in my 1977 yellow VW Beetle Gleaming steel At 25 mile an hour Barreling around corner on other side of street of said bridge was a FedEx truck With the most beautiful woman driver I ever saw (wouza / whistle / auga) Looking to dash for freedom over the v-cut of her FedEx uniform were these beautiful buxom bosoms Oh yeah Distracted by said bosoms in one eye, and the gleaming steel bridge in the other Gleaming steel We came together, bumpers and wheels, bridges and water, bosoms and bubbles Crashing and crushing With my dying breath as the bubbles were released from my lungs I reached across and went for the old HONK HONK Buxom bosoms diving for underwater freedom Seeing you now I love the way you look Breathless in ghost form You look so peaceful, it’s like you were sleeping I’ve never seen such a beautiful sight I like all of your parts, in fact It’s you and me for eternity I get to be with you forever? We can be lovers, lovers in the afterlife So I come to America, very long time And I’m so thankful, and thankful for dying on gleaming steel bridge With my beautiful wife Gleaming steel My wife who I can reach, but never touch HONK HONK It’s you and me for eternity What? No touching Now we can be lovers, lovers in the afterlife But water spirits Now we can be lovers, lovers in the afterlife I love this afterlife! HONK HONK

Broken down and desperate If there’s a drug, I ain’t found it yet They told me about a place Where music is the medicine You can leave your everything Just step away Never thought I’d understand ‘Til I crossed that bridge To the promised land They said I can’t, I say I can I’ve made it to the journey’s end When I crossed that bridge to the promised land Making a living just ain’t no life When did all my troubles become my wife Corner office man Holdin’ me back without a chance City life with no romance Just step away Never thought I’d understand ‘Til I crossed that bridge To the promised land They said I can’t, I say I can I’ve made it to the journey’s end When I crossed that bridge to the promised land Never thought I’d understand ‘Til I crossed that bridge To the promised land They said I can’t, I say I can I’ve made it to the journey’s end When I crossed that bridge, when I crossed that bridge Never thought I’d understand ‘Til I crossed that bridge To the promised land They said I can’t, I say I can I’ve made it to the journey’s end When I crossed that bridge to the promised land

Well I’ve been thinking of you babe How your love don’t come easy I’ve been hoping that you’ll stay And do you have a reason Little soldiers made of steel You can never break them Fighting blind for something real Little soldiers made of Still hopin’ for the time That I can ease your troubles I see you lost inside your mind It has you seeing double Little soldiers made of steel You can never break them Fighting blind for something real Little soldiers made of Where have you gone Where have you gone Oh sweet one I hope I find you Still there’s something I should say Before it turns to mourning And as you turn to walk away Without a hint of warning Little soldiers made of steel You can never break them Fighting blind for something real Little soldiers made of Little soldiers made of Little soldiers made of steel

With A Kiss 03:29
When the lights go down And the stars are bright And the moonlit bay’s reflected in your eyes If you take my hand I will pull you close I will say the things that matter to you most Before the light has broken And heavy words are spoken Say you know the way to happiness Say it with a kiss Say it with a kiss, now I watched you stare Towards the clear blue bay And I wondered what it’d take for you to stay When the bridge goes up And the ferry’s late We can dance along the shore while we wait When the summer’s over Before the days turn colder Promise me your love won’t let me down Say it with a kiss Say it with a kiss, now Time goes on And life gets hard Let’s not wait any longer Make it last forever Say it with a kiss Say it with a kiss, now Lights go down Say it with a kiss Stars are bright Say it with a kiss, now Say it with a kiss Say it with a kiss, now Lights go down Say it with a kiss Stars are bright Say it with a kiss, now Say it with a kiss Lights go down Say it with a kiss Stars are bright

There’s a woman on the bridge in her bathrobe Tears streaming down her cheeks She just threw away her cell phone She can never call me She’s run away from her beautiful home, broken hearts, and unpaid debts Leavin’ her kids and man alone With the ghosts of past regrets Gambled it away at the bottom of a bottle Car’s gonna be repossessed She could never be a perfect role model But she always gave her best And was left with the rest Everyone’s talking, no one’s stopping We can’t stop watching as she hits the edge She starts falling, we hear her calling “I’m sorry my babies, but I can’t be there” Everyone says that bridge is haunted When the fog rolls in You can see her in her bathrobe This can never happen again Her children cry for their mother Throwing flowers off the bridge They’re still learning how to love her And trying to forgive Gambled it away at the bottom of a bottle Car’s gonna be repossessed She could never be a perfect role model But she always gave her best And was left with the rest Everyone’s talking, no one’s stopping We can’t stop watching as she hits the edge She starts falling, we hear her calling “I’m sorry my babies, I can’t be there I’m sorry I can’t be there I’m sorry my babies”

Strangers 04:37
Strangers meet for the very first time The space between us a rushing riddle And though I may not know their eyes I’ll wait for my love to meet me in the middle (x6) Wait for my love We don’t know yet, but we can’t wait It’s one of those things you know when you see it You can’t double guess, you can’t tempt fate Love keeps rhythm and rhyme a secret But I’ll wait for my love to meet me in the middle (x6) Wait for my love Oh…oh…oh…oh…oh…oh Love is such a precious prize Hold it close if you ever catch it May take a while but don’t you cry Love reveals itself to the patient Wait for your love to meet you in the middle (x6) Oh…oh…oh…oh…oh…oh Past and present passes by The future winks a weary eye I don’t care I won’t even try I’ll stand here in the open air Until the day I meet her stare A stranger that I’ll recognize A gaze I’ll share A puzzle piece that fits so tight The missing color painted bright The verse finally rhyming with the rhythm and the timing The light that all the shadows fear The cracks receding from a mirror The bridge at last erected The sides at last connected Oh…oh
24.
One hand on the bottle, one hand on the rail Crossing this river with the devil on my tail It’s cold and deep and black as sin It’s rising up around me and I can’t swim (No) You slip like water and you slide like sand (I can’t hold on no more) You keep on falling from the palm on my hand (I can’t hold on no more) A thousand lonely days for every star in the sky (I can’t hold on no more) It never gets better no matter how I try (I can’t hold on no more) Can’t hold on – keep on trying Can’t hold on – it’s like I’m dying Can’t hold on very much longer Oh lord, I wish that I was stronger Once you said you would love me true (I can’t hold on no more) I’ve grown so tired of waiting on you (I can’t hold on no more) So I’ll take this whiskey and fill my cup (I can’t hold on no more) Drown myself in your empty promise of love (I can’t hold on no more) Can’t hold on Can’t hold on Can’t hold on Can’t hold on (No, no)
25.
I still remember that time ago when days were young Don’t you remember that river we crossed and songs we sung We fought the wrecking ball One voice in harmony Now who are we This is my song To the friends I lost along the way Now you’ve come and gone And now I’m here alone Gone days of glory and I’m still holding on And now there is no one To remember To remember Those years and tears we shared, now just a dream Two arms to hold you there in the space between I held for you You fall for me Now where are we This is my song To the friends I lost along the way Now you’ve come and gone And now I’m here alone Gone days of glory and I’m still holding on And now there is no one I wish there was a way To get back yesterday When I could still reach out for you If only I had known How frail was flesh and bone I would have fought to save you too And now you’ve come and gone And now I’m here alone Gone days of glory and I’m still holding on And now there is no one

See her face In slender moonlight Her eyes in silver skies She rise up in the morning Hangs down her hair at night Shine, lord, she shine Shining all night long Shine on for her manchild Shine her sweet sad song A blind man, he once asked me Tell me do the stars still shine bright Well yes, sir, they would shine so sweetly If it were not for these damned city lights Shine, yes sir they shine Shine oh all night long Shine they fire ascendin’ Shine their sweet sad song I said rise rise rise and shine (Even when you’re feeling down) I said rise rise rise and shine (Get yourself off the ground) I said rise rise rise and shine (Even when you’re feeling down Rise (rise) (RISE) Midnight, she lies serenely Across this starlit bay If he could see her, like I see her Even that old blind man would say Shine …. Oh lord … she Shiiiine

I know that there are people who are not worth wasting my time on But do you know that sometimes I see a little of that when I look at you I know that there are people who are not worth wasting my time on But do you know that sometimes I see a little of that when I look at you

released June 13, 2015

27 new bridge songs on 2 discs in a double pocket disc wallet.. 2014 was a productive year in the Construction Zone!

Chris Aaron (1970-2014) was all kinds of bridges. He was the kind that could carry you across tough waters. He was also that anchor that holds the strings, transferring their vibrations to the body, making it resonate. He was the love itself, the greatest bridge of all. Hugely involved in Steel Bridge Songfest from the very beginning, he was central to every event, writing, playing, engineering, whatever he could do to make it great. No one suspected that Steel Bridge 2014 would be his last.

This 2014 collection is dedicated in loving memory to our dear friend, Chris. We love you, brotherman! <3

Recorded June 8-15, 2014 by Steve Hamilton, Chris Aaron, Teve Mith, Dan O Stoffels and Barrett Tasky in Sturgeon Bay, WI at The Holiday Music Motel / Tambourine Collaboratory.
Produced by pat mAcdonald, the engineers and the artists themselves.
Administrative assistance by melaniejane, our Air Traffic Controller, with help from Teresa Young
Mastered by Steve Hamilton at Makin' Sausage Music (Milwaukee, WI).
